A Forex rule that ignores spread, rollover and the session it fires in is not a rule. Trade Metrix keeps session windows, swap and execution assumptions in the same place as your logic, so a backtest can be argued with.

What makes a Forex backtest honest

The four things most often left out of a Forex backtest, and what happens when they are not.

SPREAD

A cost, not a rounding error

Spread is paid on every entry and every exit, and it widens at the session edges and around news. A strategy tested at zero spread is not the strategy you would run.

ROLLOVER

Decides overnight holds

Swap can flip a small edge negative. An intraday rule and a multi-day rule are different strategies with different cost profiles, and the workspace treats them that way.

SESSION

When it fires matters

Sydney, Tokyo, London and New York behave differently. A London-open rule that fires during Asian hours is a different rule with a different result.

The workflow

  1. Choose the lane

A major pair, a cross, or XAUUSD as its own metal context. Each keeps its own cost and execution assumptions.

  2. Draft the rule

Describe the idea in plain English. The copilot returns entry, exit, invalidation and a starting risk policy you can edit.

  3. Price the cost

Set spread, rollover and commission before the run, so the result reflects what a live edge would actually cost.

  4. Paper it, then decide

Read the trade log, then treat any broker connection as a deliberate, separate decision.

Direct answers

The things worth being straight about before you decide anything.

Is Trade Metrix a Forex broker?

No. It is software for designing, testing and operating your own trading logic. It is not a broker, fund manager, investment adviser, research analyst or signals desk, and it does not take custody of funds.

Which pairs and instruments are covered?

The majors EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY and AUD/USD, plus XAUUSD as a separate metal lane. The preview uses generated sandbox profiles; a production deployment would use licensed feeds and instrument-specific spread, rollover and session rules.

How does it handle leverage?

Leverage magnifies the size you choose; it does not set it. Position size is derived from a risk budget and a stop distance, so the same rule produces the same exposure at any leverage setting.

Are the performance figures real?

No. Every figure is a clearly labelled generated sandbox snapshot. Verified live or paper results require a source statement or trade export.

Are you regulated?

Trade Metrix is a software platform and is not registered as an investment adviser, research analyst, portfolio manager or broker. You are responsible for the broker you choose and for the rules that apply to you.

No login, no broker connection, no orders. Open the workspace and run a rule on generated data.

Risk and regulation. Leveraged Forex and metal trading carries a substantial risk of rapid loss. Broker status, regulation, execution model and investor protections vary by jurisdiction and change often — check your own provider, and do not treat anything on this page as a recommendation to trade.
